What began with belief is growing into something lasting and meaningful for everyone
We are currently developing a new rural community hub in Hersden. Necessary Furniture have generously offered to share their space with us, enabling the creation of a welcoming environment that is open, inclusive, accessible, and rooted in the local community.
With the support and generosity of local businesses and individuals, we are building dedicated art studios, a café, an open-access creative space, and an upcycling and carpentry workshop. Our aim is to provide daily, accessible activities for everyone in the community, as well as opportunities for our partner organisations to make use of the space.
This hub will also act as a demonstration of our wider vision, showcasing what we aim to achieve once we secure a permanent city-centre base in Canterbury. In the longer term, we hope to expand our rural hub model into other surrounding communities, increasing access to creative, supportive, and inclusive spaces across the wider Canterbury district.
We hope the hub will be embraced by those who use it, becoming a valued and embedded part of the local area. What began with belief is growing into something lasting and meaningful for everyone. Rooted in shared values and built through community collaboration, Streets Ahead is creating a space designed to stand the test of time.
